2017 Chester Scarecrow Run

I love October.  October is exhausting.  I’m trying to ease myself back into blogging again, and I have a ton of material to share.  There’s so much I want to be able to remember in the future, but it’s important to me that I live in the moment.

This Saturday I had the opportunity to join my running club on a run that celebrates a local Halloween tradition.  The town south of me (Chester, NH) celebrates Halloween by setting out scarecrows.  A lot of members of the community participate and they are very creative.

While out on a 5 mile run, we saw Edgar Allen Poe, Emilia Earnhart, a Game of Thrones themed display, Cat and the Hat, Einstein, Lincoln, Little Red Riding Hood, and a ballerina.  I saw even more amazing displays on my drive home.

This was the second run our group did in Chester.  It was a chilly morning, so we ended up with fewer people than attended the first event.  We still had plenty of laughs, and stopped as often was we felt like.  The country roads of Chester are hilly and narrow, so do be careful if you decide to do your own tour-de-scarecrow.

I hope to get to do this again next year.  Maybe I’ll be training for a marathon next time and get to view the whole town.

I’ve posted more pictures from the run on Sometimes Sporty’s facebook page.

Does your town have any fun Halloween decoration traditions?
